Purpose of the role

To maximise WTH (UK) Ltd relationships with all suppliers whilst securing beneficial and achievable commercial terms, override targets and agreed levels of marketing contributions.  This is a key role that forms an essential link between WTH (UK) Ltd and our suppliers.

Reporting to Product and Commercial Director with responsibility of 1 direct report (Supplier Relations Executive). 

Role and Responsibilities


Management of all WTH (UK) Ltd relationships with key supplier contacts

  • Develop strong working relationships with all cruise line and other third party suppliers
  • Influence existing partners to increase our market share. Identify new opportunities in the marketplace via regular meetings and trading calls
  • To complete weekly/monthly meeting with the cruise lines with documented actions and results

Negotiation and Management of supplier marketing funds

  • Secure agreed Levels of marketing for all WTH (UK) Ltd marketing activity
  • Produce and agree tailored and cruise line specific marketing plans with cruise lines to support and maximise funding
  • Negotiate commercial terms beneficial to WTH (UK) Ltd with all suppliers, constantly reviewing and re negotiating existing terms
  • Ownership for tracking and achievement of short term and annual targets to ensure maximum earnings achieved
  • Negotiate exclusive offers and staff incentives with all cruise lines

Improve internal commercial awareness to maximise key supplier opportunities

  • Communicate with Heads of Sales and TLs to focus sales teams on key campaigns, commercial targets and opportunities
  • From sales trend analysis identify opportunities to maximise our sales based on cruise lines’ sales, patterns and trends
  • Source group opportunities with the cruise lines and maximise our tour conductor opportunities in conjunction with the product team.
  • To have a clear understanding of what marketing activity is providing the best ROI
  • Identify training gaps and work with Heads of Sales and cruise lines to come up with solutions to address them

Line manage Supplier Relationship Executive

  • To provide coaching and mentoring to the SRE
  • To delegate tasks where possible with a view to upskilling the SRE
  • Carry out regular one to one meetings and annual appraisal
  • Ensure a set of formal objectives have been agreed and track achievement along with SRE

Measures of Success

  • Evidence of strong and favourable partnership relationships with all cruise lines
  • Achievement of maximum commercial override earning opportunities to the agreed targets
  • Achievement of budgeted and incremental marketing funds from cruise line partners
  • Build an exclusive offers portfolio to an agreed target


Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence within the travel industry, preferably within the cruise sector
  • Results oriented with strong commercial acumen
  • Outgoing personality with an excellent ability to work under pressure
  • The nature of this role means that there is a considerable amount of UK travel and some international travel required to fulfil the requirements. The job holder must have the ability to understand and recognise the level flexibility required to carry out this role.
  • Ability to delegate effectively coupled with excellent people management
  • Strong analytical, influencing and communication skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Self-starter, with strong leadership skills and ability to embrace change
